RAW Opener: Ric Flair Challenges Randy Orton To A Parking Lot Fight
RAW opens with no intro. We see Randy Orton and Legacy inside a steel cage in the ring with their music playing. Michael Cole quickly introduces us to the show. Orton opens by saying this Sunday he defends his title in a steel cage against Batista. He asks the crowd if they think he should be worried. He says as usual "you people" have no idea what you’re talking about. Orton says Batista is the one who should be worried about him. Orton says he’s the one who kicked Batista in the skull. Orton says there is no rules this Sunday so he can do whatever he wants. Orton says he bets Batista would like to prove him wrong. He says Batista will get a chance to tonight. He says he talked to Vickie Guerrero and Batista has a steel cage match tonight. Orton says it’s as simple as this and shows a coin: heads you’ll be facing Cody Rhodes, tails you’ll be facing Ted DiBiase. Orton flips the coin and says "congratulations Cody, you know what to do." Rhodes gets on the mic and says he knows exactly what to do. He says his father was in some of the best cage matches of all time and cage matches are in his blood. Rhodes says he’ll give Batista a preview of what Orton will do to him this Sunday. Orton says good. Orton says speaking of this Sunday – he’s going to give all of us an image that we’ll need to be accustomed to. Orton walks out of the cage door and to the floor. He stops and says that image is him walking out of the cage still WWE champion.
Ric Flair’s music hits and out comes "The Nature Boy". Flair comes out strutting and lets off about 20 "wooooo’s". Flair says he’s gonna tell Orton what he’s going to do to him tonight. Orton says he’s retired. Flair says Orton is a punk. He knows he can’t compete in a ring but he’s still the Nature Boy. He says he’s gonna walk out every week and call Orton out until he grows a set and accepts to face him one-on-one. Orton asks him what he doesn’t understand about being retired. Flair says he’s not challenging him to a match. He says he’s calling him out. Flair and Orton in the parking lot in a fight. Orton says he’s accepts. Flair says let’s do it. Orton says this won’t be a night Flair never forgets because it’ll be one he’ll never remember.
Steel Cage Match:
-Cody Rhodes vs. Batista
We return and Lilian Garcia says the next match will be a steel cage match. She introduces Cody Rhodes who is still in the ring, now by himself. We have a long pause and then Batista’s music hits to pop the crowd. Out comes "The Animal" for this steel cage match. The bell sounds to start things off and Rhodes is quickly trying to climb out of the cage. He tries a few moves on Batista, but Batista out-powers him to null his attempts. Batista finally starts taking things over and spears Rhodes down. He stares down Randy Orton who is standing on the outside of the cage. Rhodes uses the distraction to try and quickly run up the cage but Batista catches him from underneath and Batista-bombs off him off the cage into the mat for the three-count and victory. Batista stares down Orton on the outside again and signals for the WWE title around his waist.
Winner: Batista
Backstage: Big Show, Vickie & Chavo Guerrero
We go backstage and see Vickie Guerrero and Chavo Guerrero. Vickie asks what the problem with John Cena and a mystery partner vs. The Miz and Big Show is. Big Show is shown and says he doesn’t like Miz. Chavo says Cena won’t gel with his partner either. Vickie pulls out a bag with everyones name on it. She asks Big Show to pick out a name. Big Show pulls out Chavo’s name. Big Show warns Chavo not to get in his way.
