Bobby Lashley Wins Second MMA Fight, MMA Fans React

Bobby Lashley won his second professional mixed-martial arts bout this past Saturday night in Pensacola, Florida.

The bout, which was promoted by Roy Jones Jr.’s "Square Ring Promotions", was featured on pay-per view and was only the third match into the show, which featured a mixture of boxing and MMA bouts.

Lashley dominated his opponent Jason Guida, Heavyweight (and sometimes Light Heavyweight) brother of the UFC star Clay Guida, en-route to a unanimous decision. Judges gave scores of 30-27, 30-27 and 30-27 to Lashley, giving him all three rounds of the fight.

The MMA world’s reaction to the bout is split down the middle. Half the loyalists believe Lashley looked bad in the fight, as his cardio was questionable and his overall MMA skill didn’t look as good as some would have liked. Equally as many people feel too many fans are looking at Lashley to duplicate the route Brock Lesnar took to become UFC Heavyweight champion in only his fourth-pro MMA bout ever.

While Lashley was stuck in a deep guillotine choke at one point that looked to be a possible fight-finisher, he did survive and beyond that pretty much controlled the entire fight, both standing and on the ground.
