Best TNA Wrestling PPV Matches Of 2014

TNA Wrestling presented 13 (taped and live) pay-per-view events in 2014. The promotion held several events under its “One Night Only” banner in addition to the annual PPV events such as Slammiversary.

It won’t be wrong to say that TNA had its ups and downs when it came to PPV quality in 2014. Some shows were great from top to bottom. Others barely managed to retain fan interest. That being said, let’s take a look at some of the best TNA Wrestling PPV matches of 2014:

Madison Rayne vs. Gail Kim (Lockdown)

The Knockouts Division was one of the strengths of TNA in 2014. The roster at the time featured Gail Kim, Madison Rayne, Kay Lee Ray (WWE’s Alba Fyre), and Taryn Terrell to name a few.

Kim and Rayne had a highly underrated Steel Cage match at Lockdown 2014. The two ladies went all out with their high impact (no pun intended) moves. The spots were carefully executed and the ending served its purpose.

Austin Aries vs. Kenny King (Slammiversary XII)

This match was overshadowed by the hype surrounding the main event, but this was a great match nonetheless. Aries and King worked seamlessly to determine the new number one contender to the TNA World Title.

Double K struggled during the early goings of the match, but regained his momentum in the middle. The closing moment saw Aries favoring his left shoulder to sell the injury. Aries would go on to lose to Eric Young in the main event.

Gunner vs. James Storm (TNA Sacrifice)

Gunner and James storm had a tense feud in 2014. The two men collided on multiple TV tapings and at PPV events. One of their better outings came under I Quit rules at TNA Sacrifice on April 27, 2014.

The two former tag team partners beat the life out of each other in this match. This bout had plenty of hard-hitting spots as well as shots to the head. The pre-finish sequence saw Gunner superplex Storm onto a guardrail inside the ring.

Samoa Joe vs. Kaz Hayashi vs. Low Ki (TNA Bound For Glory)

Bound for Glory 2014 was a crossover event of sorts as it featured some international stars such as The Great Muta and Kaz Hayashi. The AJPW junior division standout collided with TNA veterans in Samoa Joe and Low Ki.

All three men squared off for the X-Division Championship. This may look like a random match on paper but the in-ring action quickly turned it into the match of the night. Joe retained the title after nearly 11 minutes of hard-hitting action.

Eric Young vs. Austin Aries vs. Lashley (Slammiversary XII)

Lashley beat Samoa Joe in their number one contender’s match in the lead-up to the Slammiversary main event. Austin Aries, meanwhile, put away Kenny King in another solid outing at the PPV.

The Destroyer and the Greatest Man that Ever Lived did double duty when they collided with TNA World Heavyweight Champion inside a steel cage in the main event

Lashley looked absolutely dominant in this three-way outing. Young and Aries were forced to team up on multiple occasions to take down the Master of the Dominator. The two veterans of TNA had some great sequences between them as well.
