Lots Of News: SD!, RAW/Flair Changes, RAW Next Week

Alpo Murdoch sent this in: On SmackDown, they are promoting the Batista/Edge rivalry, by using the ‘fact’ that Batista has never beaten Edge via pinfall or submission in a World Title match. This statement is largely false, as Batista defeated Edge in May 2005 on Monday Night Raw via pinfall in a World Heavyweight Championship match. For those that remember, Edge was the winner of the ‘Gold Rush’ tournament, where the winner would receive a title shot against Batista. The tournament ran from the May 2nd, to May 16th. Edge was then promptly defeated by a Batista Bomb in his first ever World Title match, after defeating Kane (with Lita’s ‘turn’ aiding that) in the final. Not sure if this is noteworthy, but it seems like the WWE should do some history-checks before adding storylines like that.

There were definitely changes made at RAW Monday night regarding Ric Flair, which wasn’t why he was used. Flair is booked for RAW next week in Bridgeport, but since that is the anniversary show we could see a second week in a row where the company doesn’t play off the “win or you are done” angle.

I can definitely now confirm that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has in fact turned down an invite for RAW next week.

Trish Stratus, Steve Austin, and Mick Foley will all appear live. They announced Hogan would be there but I’ll believe it when I see it as the last I heard Vince and Hulk were not on the best of terms.

11/24 RAW Live Event in Augusta, GA drew 4,000 fans with a gate of $125,000. The SmackDown/ECW show on 11/24 in Knoxville, TN drew 4,800 fans and a gate of $150,000. The 11/25 show in Greenville, SC only drew 1,200 fans at the 16,000 seat Bi-Lo Center, the location of TNA’s February pay-per-view, Against All Odds.

Former WWE Diva Stacy Keibler was a special guest in attendance at the 2007 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. I believe the program airs on TV this coming weekend.

John sent the following: WWE RAW will return to Austin, TX on 2/4. This is the first time RAW has been shot live in Austin in three years.

Florida State University is auctioning off an autographed football helmet signed by Alumni and WWE superstar Ron Simmons.
