Huge Fight Just Confirmed, Major Return, & More

The Iowa MMA Report has confirmed that Spencer Fisher will be returning to the Octagon in November to fight Frankie Edgar at UFC 78.

Randy â<80><9c>The Naturalâ<80> Couture is filming a prequel to The Scorpion King. I care so little about this that I donâ<80><99>t even know the name of the prequel. Considering the movie will go straight to DVD home release and that The Rock turned down a role in the movie, it doesnâ<80><99>t seem like itâ<80><99>s all that important. By the way: BOO, SCORPION KING!!! BOOO!!! Couture did say, however, that he is looking forward to fighting Mirko â<80><9c>Cro Copâ<80> and would very much like to get his shot at PRIDE FC Heavyweight Champion Emelianeko Fedor, while heâ<80><99>s still the UFCâ<80><99>s World Heavyweight Champion. There is no word at this point who Couture will fight next, but an eliminator could be set up between â<80><9c>Cro Copâ<80>, if heâ<80><99>s successful against Kongo, and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira in the near future to determine who would fight for the UFC Heavyweight Championship against â<80><9c>The Naturalâ<80>.

The Forrest Griffin vs. Shogun Rua fight, scheduled for UFC 76: KNOCKOUT, was not the original plan for either the UFC, the actual event itself, or either of the two fighters. Griffin originally was set to fight Lyoto Machida. But Lyotoâ<80><99>s habit of getting on his â<80><9c>bicycleâ<80> and hitting and running to win a decision did not sit well with Forrest Griffin in any way, shape, or form. The decision was then made to drop Lyoto from the fight in favor of the debuting â<80><9c>Shogunâ<80> Rua, who needed an opponent for the card as well.

Forrest Griffin will be on a future episode of Law & Order as season 9 starts on 9/25/07 on NBC.
