Impact Wrestling Results (9/15) – Roode’s New “Challenge”, Sting vs Flair

Austin Aries is in the backstage interview area and he says he is renaming the X Division to the A Double Division. He says it is because he is champion and he is the only one on that level then says he has something important lined up for next week. He tells all the fans and people at home to get out their phones and call their friends because he will make his first title defense next week. Elsewhere, Bully Ray and Jerry Lynn are talking about their recent problems with Mr. Anderson and RVD. Bully says he is sick and tired of Anderson and he is going to beat the crap out of him, and Lynn says he is going to kick RVD's brains in.

Ric Flair vs Sting

Sting locks up with Flair and shoves him to the mat, then puts him in a headlock but Flair shoves him off into the ropes. Sting bounces back and knocks Flair down with a shoulder block, then they lock up again and Flair pulls his hair to bring him to the mat but Sting kips back up and puts Flair in a hammerlock. Flair gets to the ropes to break the hold then gets up and shoves Sting, then they trade chops and Sting knocks Flair to the mat as we take another commercial break. When we return, Sting is punching Flair in the corner but gets kick in the stomach and Flair tries going up top. Sting cuts him off and throws him off the top turnbuckle, then clotheslines him out to the floor. Sting goes out after him and Flair whips him into the guardrail but Sting absorbs it and runs right back at Flair and clotheslines him. They get back in the ring and Sting clocks him with ten punches in the corner, but Flair low blows him while the ref is talking to Sting.

They trade chops then Sting misses a Stinger Splash and Flair chop blocks his left leg, then sweeps the leg and goes for a Figure Four. They are in the middle of the ring but Sting finally reverses the hold by rolling over, and Flair reaches and grabs the ropes to break the hold. Flair continues to attack the left knee then chops him in the chest. Sting psyches up and stops Flair from going up top, and superplexes him then goes for the cover as Immortal runs out to interfere. Sting is able to fight them off and Mr. Anderson runs out with a chair to chase Bully Ray out of the ring. Hogan passes Flair brass knuckles and levels Sting with it, but Sting somehow has enough left to kick out. Sting drops him with a Stinger Splash then puts Flair in the Scorpion Deathlock and gets him to tap out as Hulk watches from the ramp.
