NWA Wrestling Legend Jackie Fargo Dies at 85

NWA wrestling legend Jackie Fargo (real name: Henry Faggart) died this Monday, at the age of 85 following a heart issue. In 2012 a false rumor of his death circulated around the internet, after he was hospitalized and diagnosed with pneumonia.

Fargo was famous for wrestling primarily with the National Wrestling Alliance throughout the 1950s, continuing into the 1970s, and held tag team gold an astounding 45 times throughout his career, teaming with such stars as Lou Thesz, Jerry Jarrett and various members of the Fargo family.

According to his Wikipedia page, Fargo was a pioneer in the Tennessee territories, "popularizing wild brawls and the use of tables and chairs" for what would become the precursor to the hardcore wrestling style.
