The Mountie Speaks on “Original Montreal Screwjob”; Claims The Rougeaus Beat the Hart Foundation in Canada

Great North Wrestling has published a video featuring former WWF star Jacques Rougeau, who wrestled as one half of The Fabulous Rougeaus alongside his brother Raymond. Jacques, who also worked as the infamous Mountie character from 1991-92, went on record stating that the Rougeaus defeated the Hart Foundation in Canada to win the Tag Team Championships, but the WWF switched the titles back to Bret Hart and Jim Neidhart in what he calls the "original Montreal Screwjob".

The match in question happened on August 10, 1987 while the Rougeaus were over big as babyfaces in Canada. They defeated the Hart Foundation for the tag titles, but the change was never mentioned on American television. The reason given to the Canadian audience was that Jimmy Hart, manager of the heel Hart Foundation faction, got involved in the match, and one of the Rougeau brothers used his microphone to win the match.
