Bret Hart Comments On Receiving Star On Canada’s Walk Of Fame

WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart was recognized with a new honor in Canada.

Jack Wannan of POST Wrestling reports that Hart received a star on Canada’s Walk of Fame; in doing so, he became the first wrestler to receive the honor, which has recognized more than 200 Canadians since 1998.

The WWE Hall of Famer discussed receiving the honor after the ceremony on May 26.

“I just want to say how special it was for me to be a wrestling hero or a TV hero for so many Canadians across the country,” Hart said via Wannan. “I’ve had such a great journey and such a great ride and I’m really proud of my career. I’ve always been especially proud of being from Canada and spreading my name and the goodwill of Canada across the world. I’d like to think that I showed everybody that Canadians can be the best there is, the best there was, the best there ever will be.”

Hart initially was named as a member of the 2021 class of inductees, but the ceremony was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking with POST Wrestling, Hart expressed his hope that Canadian stars like Edge could get recognized with the same honor in the future.

“I don’t think we ever got credit for being great actors, we never got credit for being great athletes, and we’re both,” Hart said. “We’re great storytellers, we’re great actors, we’re great athletes. We’re amazing artists,” said Hart from the red carpet. “And I think me being on the Walk of Fame is hopefully a start for guys like Edge and other guys to be on the Walk of Fame. [Or] Trish Stratus, another great Canadian wrestler. It doesn’t just start or end with Bret Hart.”

Hart a five-time WWE Champion, recently reflected on his decision to leave WWF and sign with WCW. Check out his comments here.
