Update on the Ongoing WWE TV Rights Negotiations, When Does WWE Hope to Reach a New Deal?

wwe tv rightsBusiness Week spoke to WWE CFO George Barrios recently regarding WWE's ongoing TV negotiations, and Barrios had the following to say to the publication:

"We think we’ll be able to announce a new domestic rights partner at the end of April or beginning of May."

The report notes that according to its sources, WWE has negotiated with AMC Networks, Viacom, Time Warner, Turner Networks, and 21st Century Fox Inc, and of course NBC Universal, who had the first, exclusive negotiating rights with WWE.

It should also be noted that NBCU has the contractual right to match any offer made to WWE before WWE can sign any new TV rights agreement.

It's also interesting to note that Viacom owns SpikeTV, the network which airs TNA Impact Wrestling, and used to air WWE Raw until WWE signed with NBC Universal in 2005.
