3/11 WWE Main Event Results: Dean Ambrose Defends Against Mark Henry; Divas Championship Match Steals the Show

Looks like it's time for tonight's Main Event…main event. Dean Ambrose comes down with Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins – for now, the team looks to be on the same page.

Main Event is brought to you by Burger King tonight, just in case you were interested.

United States Championship Match

Dean Ambrose (c) vs. Mark Henry

They do official ring introductions for this match, which is pretty cool.

Henry totally manhandles the champion for the first few minutes of the match, taking his time walking around the ring, picking his spots. Lots of kicks, wrists locks, and Irish whips. Ambrose gets tossed with ease over the ropes, and Henry stares down Rollins and Reigns like they're nothing. The distraction allows Ambrose to attack the knee of the big man though, leading to his first bit of offense in the match.

After the last break of the night, Mark Henry is screaming out in pain as Ambrose continues to attack the injured left knee. Ambrose comes off the second rope and chops Henry's knee. The champ locks in a half crab, which he sits on for several minutes. Henry reaches the ropes and Ambrose barely lets go of the hold before the referee disqualifies him. A couple stomps to the head, and the "World's Strongest Man" isn't looking great here.

Henry "Hulks Up" briefly, but Dean kicks out his knee and puts an end to that. Ambrose heads up to the top rope, and all the sudden Henry is up, tossing him all the way to the mat. The champ foolishly tries to trade right hands, and gets caught with a few shoulder blocks. Henry connects with a big splash, but only gets two. He sets him up for the World's Strongest Splash in the corner, but ends up getting in Roman Reigns' face instead, creating an opening for Dean Ambrose to knock him off the ropes. Ambrose hits the headlock driver for the 1-2-3.

Winner: Dean Ambrose

Mike's Thoughts: A very slow main event match, but it's Mark Henry, so I didn't expect a superkick party or a diving senton from him. Still vaguely enjoyable, or at least it attempted to be enjoyable.

I was a bit put off by both championship matches ending exactly the same way. Don't get be wrong, I love seeing WWE actually take some time to make Main Event a worthwhile show, especially because I'm paying for the WWE Network, but whoever booked those matches didn't try very hard, or communicate with the other people working the card. This is pretty much the #1 reason you watch the matches before yours.

The opener was fine – an enjoyabe albeit quick match the fans go behind. The Divas carried the show with an awesome match unrivaled by anything other than NXT. Ambrose and Henry were about as decent as you'd expect, but this really came down to a one match show. Which, if you think about it, one great match per hour is actually a decent ratio all things considered.

Another solid week of Main Event live on the WWE Network.
