Paul Heyman & Stephanie McMahon Mention CM Punk Tonight at WWE Payback in His Hometown of Chicago, IL

CM PunkWWE Payback was barely underway in Chicago, IL when Paul Heyman came out to talk up his client Cesaro, prior to his United States Championship match against Cesaro. When he mentioned his client, the Allstate Arena broke into a massive "CM PUNK!" chant, to which Heyman said the following:

"I'm sorry, he's not here tonight. He's over at the United Center watching the Blackhawks! Watching the Blackhawks get their streak broken by the L.A. Kings. Just like the king of all streaks was broken when my client Brock Lesnar conquered the Undertaker's undefeated streak at WrestleMania."

Later in the show, Stephanie McMahon brought out Daniel Bryan to surrender the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. After the two went back and forth, a loud Punk chant broke out once again. Stephanie took advantage of the moment to tell Bryan that the fans wanted him to quit, just like CM Punk quit.

As we have been reporting since January, CM Punk's WWE contract is set to expire this year, prior to the annual Money in the Bank PPV. He recently stated in an interview that he was "retired", and with these comments tonight it would seem the chances of a Punk return is at an all-time low.
