The announced attendance for tonight's WWE Payback event was 13,311 fans packed inside the Allstate Arena in Chicago, IL. That's not quite a legitimate sell-out, unless they set up the arena differently, as last year's Payback PPV in Chicago drew 14,623, Extreme Rules 2012 drew 14,817 and Money in the Bank 2011 drew 14,815.
There was a lot of talk prior to the start of tonight's show that many fans were looking for ways to sell their tickets because the Chicago Blackhawks were in game seven of the NHL Playoffs against the LA Kings. As the Blackhawks are the defending Stanley Cup Champions, game seven could possibly have accounted for the missing 1,500 fans. It's more likely a combination of the NHL Playoffs and the fact that Payback was booked without a WWE World Heavyweight Championship match, and the two advertised main events were rematches from last month's PPV.
