WWE Smackdown Results

September 5th 2014

Report by Bill Pritchard for Wrestlezone.com

John Cena comes out and says he is getting his title match so they need to stop doubting, and he’s only here to win championships and be the best. He says the day that stops is the day he goes home, and Brock Lesnar destroys everything in front of him, but Night of Champions is John Cena’s redemption. Cena says it doesn’t matter who doubts him, then The Authority comes out and Seth Rollins thinks Cena is having a career crisis. Cena mocks him and Kane warns him to watch his tone, then Roman Reigns comes out and says he will finish things with Randy Orton on Monday, but tonight is different. Reigns says he can concentrate on the corporate suck ups on the stage now, then Kane and Rollins say they are ten steps ahead of them. The Wyatt Family appears near the ramp, but Chris Jericho also comes out with Big Show and Mark Henry and walk towards them. Triple H cuts them off and says he has to do busy work and make sense of this, and books everyone in a tag team match, then says ‘holla’ and walks out to Teddy Long’s theme.

BP: The only thing really good about this was the Teddy Long reference, because I did laugh. Otherwise, typical Smackdown main event just made.

Dolph Ziggler vs Cesaro

Dolph fights out of a headlock and knocks Cesaro down, then he heads up top and Cesaro catches him on the way down. He slams Dolph down and uppercuts him on the ropes, then he talks trash to Sheamus (at commentary) before getting a near fall. Cesaro applies a three-quarters facelock, then he goes for a near fall as we go to a break. We get back to see Cesaro with another near fall, then Dolph hits a facebuster and puts Cesaro in a sleeperhold. Cesaro breaks it and blocks a superkick, then he goes for a Very European uppercut but Dolph counters with a swinging DDT. Cesaro knocks him back down and goes for a Neutralizer, but Dolph surprises him with a rollup for the win.

Cesaro attacks him after the bell, but Sheamus makes the save and throws his title at Cesaro and Brogue Kicks it into his face.

Winner -Dolph Ziggler

Jimmy Uso (w/ Jey Uso) vs Heath Slater (w/ Titus O’Neil)

Jimmy goes for a splash but Slater sidesteps and hits a neckbreaker, then he stomps Jimmy in the corner and kicks him in the head. Slater applies a headlock but Jimmy breaks it and hits him, then Slater slams him into the turnbuckles and knees him in the head. Slater turns and Jimmy catches him with a kick, then he hits a splash off the turnbuckles before Titus jumps on the apron. Jey tries to get rid of him by swinging his crutch at him, then Jimmy kicks him off of the apron and Slater heads up top. Jimmy catches him with a thrust kick on the way down, then he hits a top rope splash for the win.

Winner – Jimmy Uso
