Update On CM Punk Contract Offer By TNA, OVW Makes Statement On His Visit, Is Punk Working On A Reality Show?

Dave Meltzer reported in The Wrestling Observer Newsletter that TNA made a contract offer to CM Punk through a mutual contact, and it was said to be for some big money.

The offer made to Punk was called a “Hulk Hogan” sized offer and was much like the contract that TNA had previously offered to Alberto Del Rio when he left WWE in August.

PWInsider.com later reported that several TNA sources told them the contract offer story was false, but Meltzer still says the offer was real and that Punk showed no real interest in the deal. Meltzer wrote the following passage in response to PWInsider’s report that contrasted his own:

“The other story is obviously true and I didn’t think it was that big a deal since he showed no real interest. Look at common sense. You’re trying to make a TV deal. There is a free agent out there who is one of the biggest stars and you’re denying contact with him? In other words, are you saying you’re an incompetent promotion? It was how many minutes after Del Rio got fired that they tried to get in touch with him? But they didn’t as least try to contact Punk while trying to close a deal?”

Staying with Punk, Meltzer wrote on the F4WOnline.com message board that a major television network was interested in having Punk host a reality show. Meltzer said it’s unclear whether it was after he walked out on WWE or when his contract officially expired, but he said the showrunners went through Meltzer himself to try and get Punk’s contact info.

 OVW Makes Statement

Another story featuring CM Punk in the headlines regarded his appearance at Ohio Valley Wrestling’s recent “Saturday Night Special” show. Reports say Punk did not speak to anyone besides Rip Rogers, Cliff Compton and Trailer Park Trash, then went right to owner Danny Davis’ office.

OVW Director of Television Michael Baldwin released the following statement, making corrections on the story:

“Trailer Park Trash was not in the Davis Arena that night. No one was told not to bother CM Punk, there was no meeting held. Punk was here to talk old times with Danny Davis as the two are friends, and spent most of the time in Danny’s office. We wanted to clear things up with the article which was posted on October 6. Thank you.”
