–Kurt Angle comes out as the special guest referee for this match. He’s actually moving around pretty well, running around the ring.
TNA World Heavyweight Championship
Bobby Roode vs. Bobby Lashley (c)
Roode starts the match taking it to the champion right away. Lashley rolls to the floor and takes a beat, but Roode comes right after him and they brawl up against the barricade and all around the floor. He’s still in control, and plays up the crowd as they go to a commercial.
During the break, Lashley got a spear off. So now he’s in control. Roode battles back with elbows and an atomic drop, and they trade right hands before he hits another atomic drop. He hits a third and follows up with a kitchen sink knee strike, followed by a dropkick off the ropes. Roode comes off the second rope with a swinging neckbreaker for two.
Angle ends up getting bumped, and Lashley took a cheat shot on the challenger to get back in control. Angle gets back up, but Roode moves out of the way and he gets speared again. They start brawling on the outside, and Lashley accidentally spears the $#!T out of a camera guy. He turns around and Roode picks him up, then carries him up the ramp and drops him with the Roode Bomb.
A few minutes later they both make their way back to the ring, and start brawling back and forth. Roode tries for his finisher, but Lashley holds on to the ropes and drops down, choking him. Angle is back, eventually. Another Roode Bomb attempt, but it drops down into a pin for the surprising win.
Winner and NEW CHAMPION: Bobby Roode (c)
KILLAM: I honestly haven’t been following Impact close enough to know if this was a good decision or not, but Roode is my favorite TNA champion in the company’s history, so I’m always OK with this move. Long live Roode.
