Update On NXT At ECW Arena; Is WWE Looking To Run NXT Shows In Philadelphia?, Blue Meanie Surgery Update

NXT At ECW ArenaNXT At ECW Arena

F4Wonline.com is reporting WWE was looking at running some May shows at the former ECW Arena, now the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

WWE is denying they have any dates booked for the shows, potentially for Friday, May 15th and Saturday, May 16th,  and PWInsider.com is reporting the deal is just incomplete at this time. It is being said that WWE has a hold or priority on those dates at the arena, but they could be changed or dropped if the shows are changed.

WWE could run those NXT shows with no issue, since they are in the Northeast region that weekend for the WWE Payback pay-per-view at the Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore, Maryland. In addition, a leaked shirt featuring WWE tour dates indicates WWE has plans for the following shows:

5/15 – State College, PA
5/16  Atlantic City, NJ
5/16  Newark, DE

It’s very possible WWE would run several multiple shows since NXT is it’s own brand and they will be in the area. State College is about three hours from Philadelphia, and Newark and Atlantic City are within an hour. We will have more on the plans as they become available.

Blue Meanie Surgery Update

Following a slip-and-fall accident that resulted in a broken hand, ECW star The Blue Meanie is now home resting. PWInsider.com is reporting Meanie, real name Brian Heffron, underwent surgery to put several plates in his hand and to repair damage from slipping on ice in Philadelphia. He fell with such force that there were several breaks; he will begin therapy soon.
