WWE NXT Results (8/5) – Charlotte vs Bayley, Regal Announces Jushin Liger At Takeover, Samoa Joe vs Rhyno!

Samoa Joe vs Rhyno

After a collar and elbow tie-up Joe locks in a standing arm bar. Rhyno reverses it and attempts to shoulder block Joe, who doesn’t budge. Rhyno tries again and nothing happens. Joe returns the favor and sends Rhyno down to the mat. Joe sends Rhyno to the outside and dives through the ropes, which flattens Rhyno. After a hard chop while on the outside Joe sends Rhyno back into the ring.

Rhyno tosses Joe into the corner, but Joe reverses and hits Rhyno with his corner smash/falling enzguri combo. Rhyno follows that with an Arn Anderson… well CW Anderson-like spinebuster for a short two count. Joe sends Rhyno into the ropes, but is met with a kick to the face as he telegraphs a back body drop. As Rhyno charges Joe, Joe counters with an STO, then an inverted atomic drop, a kick to the face, then lastly a standing senton. Rhyno manages to kick out.

Rhyno picks up Joe and hits a TKO for another two count. Rhyno is visibly frustrated at this point. After a belly to belly, Rhyno goes for the Gore, but gets kicked in the head. Joe goes for the Coquina Clutch. Rhyno sees it coming and drives Joe into the corner. Rhyno goes to the second rope. Before Rhyno can blink, Joe hits another falling enzguri! Joe grabs Rhyno while he is dazed on the top rope and destroys him with the Muscle Buster for the win.

Winner- Samoa Joe

Rhyno and Joe didn’t exactly tear the house down, but it was a fun and effective match. They are slowly building Joe up to be the monster he truly is. Defeating the likes of Rhyno will slightly help build Joe’s cache with WWE fans. That said, its time for him to start matching up with the upper echelon of NXT talent. Tearing through NXT’s jobber pool and mid card isn’t going to get Joe anywhere.
