Alberto El Patron recently spoke with Sporting News MMA writer Steven Muehlhausen while promoting his new commentary gig with Combate Americas on NBC Universo.
The subject of CM Punk entering the UFC came up, and Alberto was complimentary of him, saying Punk’s critics are wrong about his chances.
“It’s going to be difficult, but I know he’s been busting his ass for months and months. I know he’s going to be ready. He’s an athlete. He has the passion. He’s hungry for that and I know a lot of people want him to not do well.”“I’m 100 percent sure he’s going to do just fine. I’m going to be there that day to support him and I just wish him success. Not luck because he doesn’t need luck. He’s going to succeed in this venture.”
Alberto also spoke about fans wanting wrestlers to fail outside of their sport, saying the fans don’t know they are real athletes and they “bust our asses every single day”, which keeps them in great shape.
