For those unaware, today is the 30th anniversary of Dusty Rhodes’ infamous and much-praised “Hard Times” promo.
Dusty cut the promo while appearing for Jim Crockett Promotions / Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling on October 29, 1985. Dusty was involved in a feud with Ric Flair when he cut the promo; Dusty called “Hard Times” his most popular promo ever, and many would agree; you can watch the full promo in the player below:
Roddy Piper
Mets blog The Daily Stache sent in the following video, featuring an old “Rowdy” Rowdy Piper promo talking about the Mets to a New York crowd.
The promo would be a bit more than 19 years old, from when the Mets were down two games to the Boston Red Sox in the 1986 World Series. The timing is appropriate for the promo now, with the Mets back in the World Series, again facing a 2-0 deficit against the Kansas City Royals.
