Jimmy Snuka to Be Arraigned on Murder & Manslaughter Charges, A Look Back at His Current Case

A hearing was held last month during which both the prosecution and the defense waived a preliminary hearing meaning the case will go directly to trial. The deal included the defense receiving access to the grand jury transcripts.

The case has been open for 32 years, and “The Allentown Morning Call” published articles written about the 30 year anniversary of Argentino’s death, which lead to a grand jury hearing, after which it was decided Snuka would be indicted.

One of the major reasons why the grand jury decided to indict Snuka is because of the changing stories he offered back when the incident took place, and a subsequent version of the story Snuka told in his book “Superfly.”

Snuka has told several versions of the story, ranging from admitting he struck Argentino, to her slipping and falling and hitting their head when they parked their car on the highway to use the restroom.

Another factor which lead to the grand jury deciding to indict Snuka are past arrests on assault charges pertaining to both Argentino and his ex-wife. Both the LeHigh Valley coroner and a separate medical examiner agreed that the cause of Argentino’s death was a homicide.

As noted, Snuka is currently battling stomach cancer, and there has been concern that he might not be mentally or physically fit to stand trial at this time.
