WWE has released the following video highlight from tonight’s Steve Austin Network interview with Ric Flair. During the clip, Flair reveals why he left WCW for WWE after a drastic change to his WCW character was proposed.
Below is a quote from Flair:
“I was tired of [WCW Executive] Jim Herd. I had cut my hair. That caused me more anxiety. He wanted to call me Spartacus. He wanted me to wear a diamond earring and call me Spartacus. Kevin Sullivan said ‘why don’t we change Mickey Mantle’s number, too’? Herd said ‘you don’t understand the business’.”
“The minute I got to WWE, I wasn’t concerned, I had no idea they were gonna make me the Champion. There was no guarantees with [Vince]. He just said ‘I’m gonna make you more money’ and he shook my hand.”
