Why Shane McMahon vs The Undertaker Absolutely Will Happen & Bullet Club Coming

shane-mcmahon-5-1.jpgMy Monday column for the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review is why Shane McMahon vs The Undertaker absolutely will take place and the Bullet Club coming to WWE. Here’s an excerpt:

Shane McMahon will fight The Undertaker in Hell in a Cell at WrestleMania. This shouldn’t be a question.

As fast as an arena full of fans gave a defining reaction to Shane’s return was as fast as booking speculation came about that he wouldn’t actually end up being in the match. Theories of him being a placeholder for John Cena to take his spot. Theories of The Undertaker not accepting the match.

Reality check — in a matter of a half hour, WWE provided the backstory to Shane’s return, announced the match and began showing the promotional material for it. It’s happening. If he was a placeholder for the long-shot return of Cena five months before his expected recovery, then it would have dragged out announcing the match. Vince McMahon could have teased the opponent for Shane for a week or two, allowing time for shenanigans in the match-making process to take place.

That didn’t happen because there’s no doubt about this match and there shouldn’t be.

Hell in a Cell fits perfectly with Shane McMahon’s skill set. He has the crazy courage of his father but far more athleticism. Shane’s Hell in a Cell match is throw some punches, throw some kicks, take a whole lot of punishment and then jump off something tall.

I’m surprised with people doubting McMahon as a worthy candidate for this match. He’s a surprise, but there should be no debate whether he’s qualified to live up to the hype. If you have doubt, log on to the WWE Network or do some searching of Shane McMahon on YouTube.

He’s 46, but looks to be in top shape and his social media posting of his training validates that. Besides, if we’re going to question his age, let’s remember by the time WrestleMania arrives, The Undertaker will be 51.

Regardless, I have no doubts this match will deliver. It has the advantage of so much subplot. Shane getting control of WWE RAW and taking the power from the incumbent authority — the same authority who has a key member as the world champion in another main event match at WrestleMania in Triple H.

The potential is grand. You could almost say it’s bulletproof.
