Rhyno Talks Running For State Representative In Michigan, Education Reform, Why Do Wrestlers Make Good Politicians?, More

On how he thinks he can help reform the education system in Michigan’s 15th Congressional District:

Rhyno: I look at it this way. It’s kind of a lot like wrestling. You have the moral of the locker room. If moral is down in the locker room they aren’t going to put out a good product. When you don’t put out a good product the fans suffer. The moral of the teachers, it’s down, can you blame them? No. You cut their pay by 11%. I think it’s been ten years now and they haven’t gotten that back. They haven’t seen that. They are under paid as is. They are strapped with debt. Now they are trying to afford just the cost of normal living. Then you’re micromanaging them. Let’s get back to the basics: Reading, Writing and Arithmetic. Let’s let them go out there and teach. That’s like me micromanaging a match or a show. I’ve done it and I’ve gotten a terrible product. If I say, “I know you’re good. Go out there and do your thing.” Let’s set the bar high and then the guys go out there and tear it up. I think that’s the same with education. Set the bar high. Let’s put our goals high and then let the teachers go out there and teach.

On why he thinks pro wrestlers make good politicians:

Rhyno: We are used to talking to people. We are used to going out there and interacting with people. We are used to putting ourselves out there. We are used to being in front of the camera. Everybody is different from Jesse Ventura to Donald Trump and myself. We’re all different individuals. We all have a different story. We all come from different backgrounds. With me I think a lot of people can relate to me and my struggles. I never really made the big money contracts. I’ve always been humble and I come from humble beginnings. I have never forgotten where I came from because if you do you forget who you are. People feel comfortable on voting for someone they can relate to.
