This final topic on Chair Shot Reality this weekend is about Stephanie & Shane McMahon both in control—where does the story go? Plus, can WWE ever go back to not having a weekly authority figure on television?
Justin LaBar and Josh Isenberg talk about all of this while being filmed at the Squirrel Hill sports bar. Here’s some highlights:
Josh Isenberg:
It’s going to wear off at one point, but not in the foreseeable future. WWE needs to invest in a very face Shane character and tease Stephanie undermining her brother. That’s been her career in WWE. She takes over. Triple H takes over. Looking at a long term picture, this culminates at SummerSlam. Your going to have Triple H want to be in a match. It’s May now, so two and a half months of a power struggle. Put it the power on the line at SummerSlam. It’s going to be a real personal feud. Bring in Shane’s wife. Bring in Linda. Throw everything at this feud. They have to really go for it.
Justin LaBar:
I’m going to speed up your booking. The power settle to help make Battleground more important in July. Have a Team Shane vs Team Stephanie. Let the power be decided there. Let’s assume it’s Shane and then SummerSlam him versus Triple H because it’s personal. Once they get to SummerSlam, never mind who has power it’s personal, it’s family dinners, but we’re on the same page that it has to bring the whole family into it. Shane is so over but Stephanie is such a great heel so they had to keep both on TV for now. What I want to know, can they ever go back to just having a fake figure head like 1991 Jack Tunney you would see him occasionally to make decisions but for the most part the shows ran themselves. Can we ever get back to that?
