According to Jeremy Botter of FloCombat, Ultimate Fighting Championship has accepted a $4.2 billion bid to be sold to the ownership group of WME-IMG, the Dalian Wanda Group, The Kraft Group and Tencent Holdings, the owners of the largest internet portal in China.
While the sale is not yet complete, an announcement is expected to come shortly following UFC 200 in July.
FloCombat sources indicated the majority of the money for the deal is coming from the Dalian Wanda Group and Tencent Holdings. But WME-IMG and the Kraft Group would act as the faces of the new ownership group, at least in North America.
As for the future of Dana White in UFC, sources note White will be staying with the company and will retain his role as UFC President. White’s current shares in Zuffa will be sold as part of the deal, but he will be granted new shares to stay on in his current promotion capacity.
