Today, another step was taken towards the much-hyped WWE vs. New Japan feud that will probably never happen: The New Day vs. The Bullet Club!
Current Bullet Club leader and current NEVER Openweight trios champion Kenny Omega was in attendance at this weekend’s CEO 2016 Fighting Game Championships, and as luck would have it, so was one third of the WWE tag team champions and fellow gaming enthusiast, Xavier Woods. The two ended up competing in a heated exhibition match of Street Fighter V, cutting promos between fights. In the end it was Omega, who had his own custom Bullet Club, Kenny “The Cleaner” Omega fight stick, who walked away victorious.
The two are actually friends, as Omega has appeared in several UpUpDownDown related skits going back to 2015. The rivalry between the two teams started earlier this year, when Omega and the Young Bucks (also known as “The ELITE”) shot a video teasing the New Day and challenging them to a 6-man match for the NEVER Openweight titles. The rivalry has gone back and forth with both teams commenting in interviews and various online videos, but recently took a step up at WWE Money in the Bank when Woods called him and his boys the “most elite” team in pro wrestling, a promo that drew the frustration of Club members Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows.
