My latest piece on Upgruv.com and their free app is all about the news Ronda Rousey has made in announcing her MMA career is winding down. I look at the possibility of WWE in her future. Here’s an excerpt:
Ronda Rousey is one of the biggest stars in the world. Made famous by her overall dominance in Mixed Martial Arts, accompanied by her charismatic personality and stunning good looks. Enjoy her now MMA fans, because she says her fighting career is winding down.
She revealed in an interview on The Ellen Show, “This is definitely one of my last fights.” Rousey referring to her December 30th bout against Amanda Nunes at UFC 207.
The 29-year-old has proven she’s a multi-platform star.
Appearances as herself in movies such as “Entourage” and “Furious 7.”
Appearances in comedic television spots such as Drunk History or holding her own with Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel and Conan O’Brien, among others on the talk show circuit.
Appearances in WWE. The very vocal pro wrestling fan has repeatedly discussed her interest in the product. Often called “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey, inspired and endorsed by wrestling legend “Rowdy” Roddy Piper. She’s even created a WrestleMania moment taking Triple H to the mat at WrestleMania 31 when recruited by The Rock from her ringside seat.
Not knowing exactly when Rousey’s MMA career will be over, it would seem inevitable the movie opportunities will always be there, but so will an offer from WWE.
An offer to create another WrestleMania moment. This time, she would be advertised so all can profit from.
The interesting aspect of her in WWE is the credibility she would arrive with. It would be a similar situation Brock Lesnar is in now where he can beat anyone he steps into a WWE ring with, everyone knows that and few ever do.
Reality is, like Lesnar, Rousey should never lose. So it would seem wise for the novelty and protection of her that if she has more than one match in WWE, they be spaced out in the truest form of special attraction.
