In Ring Segment: Roderick Strong
Strong thanks the crowd for chanting for him. Strong says he is thankful for the year he is having. He is thankful for his wife his baby boy. Strong says he told the NXT Universe his story. A story he was ashamed of and they accepted him anyway. When Strong came to NXT he told everyone the only reason he is here is for the NXT Championship. That is the one he wants and needs. It is no longer Roddy against the world. It’s Roddy, his wife, and son against the world. Before Strong can finish, NXT Champion Bobby Roode interrupts. Roode is fake crying and wiping his eyes with a piece of tissue. Roode says that was such an emotional story that he needs a minute before he can speak. Roode says Strong should be proud. He has won a bunch of matches… finally. Roode adds that Strong has a marginally attractive fiance and a sorta normal son. Strong is livid. Roode says he knows Strong wants to be on the marquee with the champ. Diapers don’t pay for themselves. Strong wants to win the Roode lottery. Problem is that isn’t the way it works in Roode’s NXT. You have to earn a shot at the champ. Roode tells Strong that he is a good hand and he should stay in his lane. If Strong is good, Roode may even take a selfie with him so he can show his little guy at home. Yes, Roode would actually do that for Strong. Roode tells Strong not to try to play the Roode lottery because he is not man enough to win.
Backstage, Nikki Cross beats the crap out of her jacket while screaming for Asuka and Ruby. Cross wants to play again.
