WWE Smackdown Results (8/15): John Cena vs Jinder Mahal, Nakamura Prepares For SummerSlam, Fashion Peaks Season Finale

In-Ring Segment

AJ Styles made his way out to a huge reaction from the fans, and called down Shane McMahon, who promptly joined him in the ring. Shane O’Mac said there’s no reason to apologize for what happened last week, as his entire job as special guest referee to their match at SummerSlam is to be a guy who can take a hit and keep going. Styles still held that his kick last week was an accident, and wanted to know if Shane had any plans to screw him over at SummerSlam. McMahon agreed that it was an accident and simply said that on Sunday, he’ll remain impartial but if anybody puts their hands on him again he’ll retaliate in kind. Kevin Owens wandered out and tried to stir the pot between them, sucking up to Shane and saying he would never intentionally put his hands on the GM. Owens and Styles started brawling and Shane got between them. AJ almost inadvertently decked him but held up at the last minute, then ducked out of the way allowing Owens to superkick the Chairman in the face.

The Usos vs. Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods

The New Day came out to talk trash about The Usos ahead of their match at SummerSlam. They took turns telling the Usos where they could “catch these hands”. Woods made a good joke about the White Walkers coming to Westeros and the Usos being forced to bend the knee.

Kofi started things out delivering a half dozen running sentons to Jay before diving to the outside to take both the challengers out. During the commercial break the Usos had taken control of the match after throwing Kingston into a ring post. Kofi threw rights trying to battle back but couldn’t hold up to quick tags from the former champions. He finally got some breathing room off a high elevation back body drop and made the hot tag to Woods, who cleaned house with a series of clotheslines and kicks. He hit a nice dropkick to the back of Jey then fired off with a rolling lariat to Jimmy. Xavier went to the apron but took a stiff right hand, but fired back with an enzuigri. The New Day destroyed Jimmy with stereo superkicks, shades of the Young Bucks, but the other Uso came back to save the match. Woods went up looking for an elbow drop but got thrown hard into the top rope. Kofi was limping, selling his knee hard, and turned around into stereo superkicks for the win.

Winners: The Usos
