On wrestling at WWE Axxess in New Orleans:
ZG: Without trying to sound cocky, any performer has to have confidence in themselves. WWE has always been my end goal, and it’s always been something that I’ve wanted to achieve and I’m not going to take no for an answer. With that being said, when you finally do get that call to do a show, it’s still unreal. It’s still a surreal experience. I’ve been knocking on WWE’s door for quite some time now.
On the timing of ITV’s World of Sport:
ZG: The original ITV shows, I was always trying to be a part of [them] to elevate my stock with the end goal always being move over to WWE. Obviously, the timing of the last ITV show couldn’t have been worse for me, and it ended up putting me out of the WWE UK Tournament which could’ve been my foot in the door. But again, rather than taking that as a negative, I used it to elevate my stock and set up my training school.
On the upcoming WWE UK Championship Tournament:
ZG: It’s definitely something that I want to do, but it’s not necessarily something I can touch upon too much. I never shy away from the fact that my end goal is to wrestle for WWE, I don’t think there’s ever been a better time for me to be involved. I’m pushing to be on that show, and hopefully, I’ve done enough to secure a spot. Everything is up in the air right now, but by no means is that a bad thing. There’s so many opportunities on the horizon.
On Super Strong Style 16:
ZG: The tournament in itself has taken on a life of its own. In the same way that when WrestleMania comes in it takes over a weekend, that’s what Super Strong Style feels like. People travel down and they’re not just traveling for one wrestling show, they’re traveling for the whole experience of it. Credit to Progress for doing that. If I wasn’t wrestling, I feel like I’d be there as a fan. I’m in a position entering this tournament where it’s myself or James Drake, we don’t know who yet. It puts us in a unique position that nobody has ever been in with one of these tournaments before.
On an ideal opponent at SSS16:
ZG: It’s stacked, it’s a bit of a who’s who. It forces you to bring out your best, and everything that you’ve been hiding up your sleeve. It doesn’t matter if you close your eyes and pick at random, I feel like you’re going to pick out a big match. The best draw would be someone like Pete Dunne, he’s currently carrying the WWE UK brand. So, with that ready to kick off again, there’s no better way to put yourself in a good position than by smacking around their champ is there?
