Shinsuke Nakamura spoke to Lilian Garcia in an interview at Ace Comic-Con. Garcia complimented Nakamura for a great start to his WWE career before asking him what made him decide to leave NJPW. Nakamura replied that he felt that he’d accomplished everything he could in Japan and decided to move onto the next challenge after a friend who worked in WWE called him.
Nakamura added that although he knew about Hogan and Andre The Giant because of their work in Japan, he had been generally unaware of WWE history because the only way to catch WWE when he was growing up was to go to the video shop. He also said that he decided not to brush up on his WWE history after signing because he wanted everything to come as a surprise.
