Dolph Ziggler was a guest on Lilian Garcia’s Chasing Glory podcast and amongst other topics, discussed the original ring name WWE had in mind for him. Dolph revealed that his ring name was supposed to be David Diggler and added that he hated the name. Ziggler revealed that he asked if the name could be changed and was told to suggest a name that started with ‘D’ for both the first and last names. Ziggler suggested Dolph as his first name before asking if the last name Diggler could be changed.
Ziggler revealed that when he reached RAW he found out his name was going to be Dolph Ziggler. He added that he went and found Vince McMahon to say that the name was akin to a cartoon wrestling name to which Vince replied that it was memorable and that fans would remember it.
