Dave Meltzer took to Wrestling Observer Radio to talk about Daniel Bryan’s current contract status and how that is currently playing out on WWE television:

The fact is Daniel Bryan hasn’t signed his contract and if you watched that interview [On Smackdown] it stands out like a sore thumb that he hasn’t signed that contract and they’re not happy.

Co-host Bryan Alvarez chimed in with:

The best part about it was when The Miz goes, ‘Just don’t sign your contract and go wrestle in a flea market.’ And there’s a pop! Can you imagine?

Meltzer continued:

To me, the arrogance….Daniel Bryan, if he does go elsewhere, and he’s not probably; but, let’s just say there’s a lot of stuff that’s really weird going on. I’ll just say that. If by some chance this year or next year or at some point he does go independent, he ain’t wrestling in high school gyms, bingo halls, and flea markets. He’s gonna do probably 50, 60 dates and they’re gonna be New Japan. It won’t necessarily be as big of crowds as WWE; but, some of them will be. He’ll be doing the big New Japan shows. He’ll be doing Ring of Honor shows that, because he’s on them, will be drawing pretty well. Not a few hundred people. He’ll be doing Arena Mexico which is drawing more than any arena in the world right now and drawing more than WWE does on their big shows. Not bigger than WWE pay-per-view shows; but, Arena Mexico is outdrawing RAW most weeks and it’s outdrawing every WWE house show unless maybe it’s like a [Madison Square] Garden show. I know what the game is. It’s like everyone; but, us is minor league and they put it in that thing to make it look like, ‘Oh if you’re not here, you’re going to be wrestling in a high school gym in front of 100 people.’
