On a recent edition of Talk is Jericho, IWGP Intercontinental Champion Chris Jericho revealed that he pitched a NJPW vs WWE angle for this year’s WWE SummerSlam.
According to Jericho, the angle was supposed to have been him against Seth Rollins (Intercontinental Champion at the time).
Jericho added that a high level WWE executive was actually receptive to the idea at first; but, he ultimately never heard back from the WWE.
Jericho recounted,
“I would show up the Monday night [RAW] before SummerSlam, which has passed already, so you know that’s not going to happen. I literally could have. I checked. Trust me. The show is in Greenville, South Carolina, or something. I could have been there at 4 pm. I could have ran through the crowd, attacked Seth Rollins, made the challenge, made the match, Jericho vs. Rollins, IC title vs. IC title. I pitched it, got a decent response, and never heard another word again.”
