What’s Bothering Me: Fan Outrage Over Cena, Ziggler, More

It's time again to take a look at what's bothering me in pro wrestling this week. Monday will now be the new day for this feature, so make a note if it's important that you read this editorial each week.

Quick pause while you all make a note of it…

#3. Promoters & Their Ignorance

How many times must a promoter fail before they decide to do something different? And why can't they use other promoters' mistakes to avoid making the same ones themselves? It seems easy. Stupid easy.

I respect independent wrestling promoters a great deal. It is very hard, this day in age, to handle the responsibilities of promoting an event AND making it successful. Then, to try and deal with some of the egos that a certain percentage of pro wrestlers have, it can be extremely exhausting, and complicated. I respect anyone who attempts it.

Some promoters are just better at it than others.

When I read the recent story about Tammy Sytch no-showing three more dates this past weekend, it bugged me to no end. Sure, it's upsetting that Tammy is the way she is, "personal demons" or not, and she apparently thinks it's okay to do this to the promotion and its fans, but it also irritates me that the promoters didn't know any better.

This isn't the first time Tammy has no-showed. It's not the second or third! She does it quite often, actually.

Sure, your "Card Subject To Change" disclaimer will cover you, and the good promoters will even offer refunds when necessary, but why bother risking any of that? Is Tammy Sytch worth "that" much? I certainly don't think so.

Do your homework, learn from other promoters' mistakes, and avoid making your own at all costs. You won't always succeed, but you'll make a lot less than others.

Repeated steps or occurrences make a PATTERN. Tammy's "pattern" is being unreliable. Stop allowing her to be. IF you're going to use her, don't promote her! Use someone else as your marquee name and allow her to simply be a surprise. Use her to sell your DVDs, not the gate.
