I will be keeping this feature relatively short this week, as my WZ duties have been increased a bit due to the double-PPV week coming up.
Also, check out my new Sunday feature, "The Cashflow", on the VOW Network (VOWLive.com). It's a new, quick video piece where I give my thoughts on a variety of fun and topical wrestling subjects.
CHRIS JERICHO - ONE STEP UP
It wasn't "just" Chris Jericho that I enjoyed on Raw this past Monday, but I'm using him specifically because he was at the center of what I feel WWE did right this week.
I'm not entirely opposed to the stipulation Vince added to the WWE Championship MITB match, but I wasn't a fan of how they introduced it. It was way too much about John Cena and Big Show -- a program I feel very few really care about given the fact Cena just beat Show pretty easily at No Way Out -- and very little about CM Punk and his title.
Now, I'm one of the few that do NOT expect Cena to walk out of MITB with a victory. His excuse will be that he accomplished what he said he would in stopping Big Show from winning the match. Therefore, I don't believe Big Show will win either.
That leaves, at this point, Jericho or Kane.
I really think the winner has yet to be announced, but I do like the progress they made this week on Raw. All four competitors in the MITB match, in addition to CM Punk and Daniel Bryan, looked strong on Monday. They were given plenty of time to shine, individually and together, and I'm looking forward to next Sunday more now as a result.
Chris Jericho was front and center this week as someone that needed to add credibility to his chances of winning. His confrontation with Cena at the beginning of the show was great, his backstage segment with Daniel Bryan was absolutely hilarious, and he was featured well in the main event match.
Let's get one more Monday Night Raw like that tomorrow and I'll be just fine with these four taking away the opportunity MITB typically provides a younger star.
