WZ Mailbag: Do IW Sites Ruin Kayfabe?, Cena & Bryan as Mid-Card Title Holders, WrestleMania in London, the IWC, Neville’s Push & More

wrestlemaniaWelcome to the second Mailbag edition! It will now run twice a week, Tuesday and Thursday. Send in your questions to WZMailbag@gmail.com or by posting them in the forum thread at this link! Feel free to leave feedback in the forum, in the comment section, or on my twitter @MaxCruzePW.

WZ Manager Nick Paglino fields the first question today, and I answer the rest.

Do you think spoiler sites, like WZ, ruin Kayfabe?

Nick Paglino’s response: An excellent question, and I think the answer is “no.” While sites like WZ certainly don’t benefit kayfabe, I think the kayfabe era in pro wrestling is long gone, and was long gone before sites like WZ became prominent.

WWE Network shows such as WWE 24, the live podcasts with Chris Jericho and Steve Austin, and tonight’s ESPN documentary, completely break kayfabe, so ultimately I think the “reality era” in pro wrestling started with the wrestling promotions themselves and not so much the internet.

Is there anyone on the roster that could elevate the IC Title the way Daniel Bryan could? Do you think John Cena should hold the US Title until he retires?

Yes, there are plenty of fan favourites and veterans that can elevate the IC title presuming that WWE Creative books them well. The main thing for WWE is to create interesting and compelling feuds that make the fans want to see more no matter who is in the title picture, if you have a squash match then you are devaluing the title. Having Cena hold the title until he retires is a bad idea. It will make him seem unbeatable going back to his days as SuperCena (which are finally over) and nobody wants to see that again, not to mention he’s still not that close to retirement yet.

Okay so wrestle mania has had some pretty amazing mega star matches over the past 31 years with The Rock V Stone Cold, Hogan vs Macho man, The Rock Vs Hogan, Cena Vs Rock. What do you think could be the next mega match? Besides from John Cena could any other star on the current roster be included in a mega match like the previous?

I think the next “Once in a Lifetime” match is going to be The Rock V Brock Lesnar, even though it’s not quite “Once in a Lifetime”. This match alone can fill half the arena at Wrestlemania 32. Just imagine the promos Rock and Paul Heyman can have in the build up to the match. John Cena has thankfully taken a backseat role in the past 6 months and hopefully it stays like that. John Cena doesn’t have to be in one of these matches as there are so many veterans out there that can fill his shoes. The one thing I want to mention is that we will probably never see Steve Austin in a WWE ring again. He is done with he WWE and has publicly stated that, so please don’t start anymore rumors about him wrestling at WM 32, it just won’t happen.
