Lashley Hospitalized Following Loss, MMA Future In Question?

Bobby Lashley was sent to the hospital due to what is being called “extreme dehydration” following his second round TKO loss to Chad Griggs at the Strikeforce: Houston event last night on Showtime.

While Lashley is out of the hospital now, said to have been released early this morning, things aren’t exactly looking up for the former WWE and TNA Wrestling star.

After being treated with multiple IV bags used to attempt to pump fluids back into his system due to the level of dehydration he was experiencing, his future as a MMA fighter on the big stage is already being questioned by some important people.

With UFC president Dana White being openly vocal with his opinion on Lashley while he was an undefeated prospect working his way up another promotion’s heavyweight ladder, one can imagine his current thoughts on how close Lashley is to earning a spot in the crowded UFC heavyweight division. To make matters worse, Lashley’s current employer, Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker (the “Dana White of Strikeforce”) is questioning Lashley’s future in the sport after losing his first fight out of six trips to the cage.

Coker was quoted after the show by the MMA press, suggesting that Lashley do some soul-searching to find out if a career in MMA is something he’s still interested in. Obviously those comments can be taken a number of ways, all of which would have to be negative. The only thing that is certain is that it’s not a positive statement if you’re a fan of Lashley as a MMA fighter.
