WWE.com Wants Re-Design of Belt, Original Del Rio Title Plans

Alberto Del RioWWE.com Wants Re-Design of Belt

WWE.com has posted a new article urging management to re-design the WWE Championship belt, noting that the spinner belt is outdated. This comes on the heels of John Cena, who created the title, speaking out on Twitter about his desire to see the title change designs. The WWE.com article also features a quote from current Champion CM Punk, who said the following:

"YES! [The current title] is old and passé," said Punk. "It's gaudy and ugly. It says "Champ" instead of Champion! That's ridiculous. I need a dignified title, not a blinged out rapper accessory."

Original Del Rio Title Plans

F4WOnline.com is reporting that the original plan for Alberto Del Rio's title run, when he first captured the belt at SummerSlam, was to hold the title until eventually dropping it to CM Punk at Survivor Series.

Although that did happen, it's being said that the decision to have Cena with the title at Night of Champions was made "on the fly," with the hope that the quick switch would spike ratings, which it did not.
