Minnesota Fighting for WrestleMania?

According to sources from the Minneapolis / St. Paul Business Journal claim city officials plan to fight for the right to host WrestleMania 33 at the brand new Minnesota Vikings stadium in 2017.

As we reported earlier this year, former WWE senior vice president of live events Patrick Talty was hired on as the stadium’s general manager, giving the city a distinct edge in a prospective bidding war.

“Minneapolis was home to Verne Gagne’s American Wrestling Association from 1960 to 1991 and several professional wrestlers grew up or spent time here, including Sean “X-Pac” Waltman, Brock Lesnar and Jesse Ventura, who was Minnesota’s governor from 1999 to 2003. Minneapolis has hosted WWE pay-per-view events like SummerSlam but never WrestleMania, which is the Super Bowl of professional wrestling. Philadelphia has been vying for the event for years and intends to also fight for 2017, according to philly.com.”
