NXT is Taking Over: Big Names at Tonight’s Sold-Out Show; Partial Results & Photos From WWE NXT in San Jose

nxt tournamentWWE is currently running a massive late night NXT live event in San Jose, and several readers have sent in word that it’s “standing room only” at San Jose State University. One source reported earlier that over 4,000 tickets had been sold – and some are saying upwards of 4,500 – making this easily the biggest show in NXT history.

Both Vince McMahon and Triple H have been spotted, watching the event from the sidelines. Sitting ringside is WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross, rap artist Wale, and former WWE creative writer Court Bauer.

NXT announcer Corey Graves kicked off the night after America the Beautiful. He cut a passionate program about NXT being a “secret warehouse” in Florida that produced talents like The Shield and Bray Wyatt. He hyped the transformation of the product up to what it is this weekend, and said they sold out thousands of tickets in minutes for this show.

While we are still awaiting results, we can confirm that the following matches have taken place:

(1) Hideo Itami vs. Tyler Breeze. Apparently Itami worked more strong-style than he has since coming to WWE, and finally hit the GTS and the place went crazy for it.

(2) Bull Dempsey vs. Jason Jordan.

(3) Bayley & Alexa Bliss vs. Dana Brooke & Becky Lynch. Bayley was more over than pretty much anyone else, and the crowd was super hot as soon as they heard it was a Divas match. IMAGINE THAT!

(4) Solomon Crowe vs. Kalisto. These two have worked together before, but not in WWE.

(5) Baron Corbin vs. Rhyno. Lots of “ECW” chants and the crowd was split for Corbin as expected.
