Former WWE Writer Explains MLB Title Belt Tradition, The Rock Reveals “On-Set Injury” (VIDEO)

wwe rawWWE Writer Explains MLB Title Belt Tradition

Ex-WWE writer Kevin Eck’s latest blog explains how the tradition of the MLB’s Home Run Derby champion getting a WWE title started.

Eck said it all started when Baltimore Orioles Adam Jones allowed Yoenis Céspedes to pose with the belt that Eck gave Jones several years back. Céspedes won the Derby the past two years; Todd Frazier of the All-Star host Cincinnati Reds won this year’s contest.

While I was with WWE, a mutual friend who works for the Orioles informed me that Jones is a huge WWE fan. As a native of Baltimore and a lifelong Orioles fan, it was my pleasure to personally present Jones with a replica WWE Championship belt before an Orioles game in Baltimore two years ago.

The All-Star Game was less than a week away, and Jones had been voted in as a starter for the American League. I half-jokingly asked if he was going to take the belt with him to the All-Star Game at Citi Field in New York.

Jones liked the idea and said he would let the Home Run Derby champion borrow it for a photo opp. Yoenis Cespedes, then with the Oakland Athletics, won the Derby that year and repeated as champion in 2014.

The Rock Reveals On-Set Injury

The following video features The Rock revealing a somewhat “gruesome” injury to his finger while on the set of his new film Central Intelligence. (Edit: A New Line Cinema representative has since confirmed that yes, that was a prosthetic used, and The Rock trolled/swerved everyone)

I ain’t got time to bleed..
