NXT Talent to Start Receiving PPV Bonuses?, Backstage News on Why NXT Stars Do Not Get a Cut of the Live Events Gate

The reason why WWE does not pay NXT talents percentages live event gates is because NXT operates at a loss, and typically events draw around 200-300 fans, particularly when shows are run in Florida. NXT is still seen as developmental, and to the talents the live events are viewed more as a learning tool to help them develop and gain experience working in front of live crowds.

Things could be different in the near future, however, as WWE is estimated to make $700,000 by selling out the 13,000 seat Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NYC. This is far more than the bigger than usual gates taken in at the recent Philadelphia and San Jose events.

Subsequently, things could change in terms of NXT talents getting PPV-like bonuses if the live specials continue to draw as well as Takeover Brooklyn. Keep in mind talent like Kevin Owens and Sasha Banks might already be bonused since the are main roster stars at this point.
