Welcome to Figure Friday! Today we take a look at the “Perfect 10” himself, Tye Dillinger, from the new Target Exclusive WWE NXT Basic series! This series is a “Build-A-Figure” series in that if you collect everyone in the set you build something, usually a figure, but in this case you build Bayley’s Tube Men! You also get some early WWE NXT trading cards from Topps if you collect those, which will be releasing around now I believe.
Looking at Dillinger in the packaging you can see the great white style design, which really makes them stand out on the shelves. I really like the look of it as it’s just really clean and slick. I liked when Mattel did this for the Elites years ago, too. You can see the Topps logo in the top corner as it mentions you get a trading card with him, but you also get one half of the blue tube man, as seen next to Dillinger in the box. What’s nice about the packaging as well is that it lists when the character debuted, which is a cool stat. On the back is a larger image of Dillinger as well as a list of who else is in the set, including Cien Andrade Almas, Kevin Owens, Samoa Joe, Hideo Itami and Sami Zayn. The only “new” figures in this set really are Dillinger, Almas and Itami as the others are repackaged from previous series I believe. There’s three different tube men you build in this wave as Bayley’s Elite NXT figures comes with the fourth, which is red.
Moving on to Dillinger out of the packaging I feel Mattel did a very nice job on his first figure. The head scan looks just like him, I especially love the detail in his hair. They put a nice amount of detail into his attire as well with the logos as well as the yellow trim on the edges of his tights. You can see his detailed tattoo on his shoulder, too. For a guy with a simple look they did a very nice job on him. You can even lower his knee pads, as seen in the photo above, although I photoshopped his other padding off to create the effect for the photo.
Overall, it’s a very nice figure for his first time in the line (surprising that’s not on the box somewhere), my only nitpick really would be the fact he has one closed hand. He should’ve had two open hands to at least get close to the “10” taunt he always does. Besides that I highly recommend him. You can only get these at Target. If you’re trying to find them and they’re not on the pegs just give this number, 087-06-8814, to an employee to see if they’re in the back as that’s how I obtained my Basic and Elite sets. He and Almas will most likely be the first ones to fly off the pegs as it’s their very first figures.
