NJPW Dominates Social Media Trends

New Japan Pro Wrestling dominated social media Saturday night from the very start of the first night in Long Beach, California. The official hashtag #G1USA was trending in the United States at number one throughout the entire show, and floated near the top of the charts worldwide as well. Billy Gunn, Hiroshi Tanahashi, Young Bucks, Hot Topic, NJPW and Juice Robinson were others that trended highly during the first half of the show.

Young Bucks Have Long Beach Crowd in Tears

Matt and Nick Jackson opened the show Saturday as a part of a huge 10-man tag team match, teaming with fellow Bullet Club members Bad Luck Fale, Yujiro Takahashi and “The Villain” Marty Scurll. Before the match one of the Young Bucks loudly yelled out “they put is in the opening match, are you kidding me?” which had some of the fans near ringside cracking up.

Unfortunately for the Bullet Club the faction lost their bout to CHAOS members Trent Baretta, Rocky Romero, The Briscoes and British high flying sensation Will Ospreay. After the match, Matt Jackson looked on incredulously after being rolled up by Roppongi Vice opponent Romero, and loudly yelled out “I have a deal with Hot Topic, I can’t lose on TV!” The line had fans in attendance in stitches, and led to the Bucks trending worldwide during the opening moments of the show.

The Young Bucks will defend the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Championships against Roppongi Vice tomorrow during night two of the NJPW G1 Specials in Long Beach.
