Gunther Can’t Leave United States For The Next 6 Months Due To Residency Regulations

Gunther will only be allowed to wrestle in the United States for the next six months.

Krone (Austria) recently spoke with Gunther during WWE’s recent tour of Germany. The article noted that Gunther, the current Intercontinental Champion, will not be allowed to leave the United States for the next six months due to the country’s residency regulations. The Ring General was born in Austria, but he now lives in Orlando, Florida.

Due to the restrictions, this would effectively keep him off of the Elimination Chamber card in Perth, Australia in February 2024. WWE is also headed to Germany for Bash In Berlin in August, which is after the residency restrictions have lifted.

On the plus side, he says being home in the United States will give him more time with his wife, former WWE/NXT UK star Jinny.

“I only saw her for six days in October,” he noted.

Gunther’s Intercontinental Championship reign recently passed the 500-day mark.

It must be him

NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov recently appeared on the Hall of Fame with Booker T and Brad Gilmore. Dragunov was asked to name who he’d potentially want to face at WrestleMania.

“It must be Gunther. It must be him,” Ilja Dragunov said. “There is no other choice. This is destiny. There is no other match that makes people feel this whole dimension of emotions that we both can produce. Just because we’re directly opposites. There’s not one person that has taught me more in my entire professional career.

“There’s not one person that pushed me more in my entire professional career, and there’s no one person that I can have a better match with on such a high level as WrestleMania. It is impossible because we have both the opposites, but we are kind of bound and need to be connected to create something that people have never seen before and can reinvent this special thing every time again, especially on a stage like this.”
