Eddie Kingston: Andrade Is So Good, It’s Hard To Spot A Weakness In His Game

Eddie Kingston discusses his approach to facing Andrade El Idolo.

The first ever AEW Continental Classic is winding down as the company looks to establish its first Triple Crown Champion. Saturday’s episode of AEW Collision will see ROH World and NJPW STRONG Openweight Champion Eddie Kingston take on one of Blue League’s leaders Andrade El Idolo. The bout will be a pivotal matchup as Kingston has six points while Andrade has nine.

During a recent interview with Tim Battle and Eli on the Battleground Podcast, Kingston discussed how he’s preparing to take on the former WWE United States Champion.

“I gotta hit the back fist a lot and probably hit him with the Northern Lights Bomb. Hopefully that works so I don’t have to do the powerbomb,” Eddie Kingston said. “With Andrade, he’s so good it’s scary. I mean, how smooth he is, how violent he can be. I’ve been doing nothing but watching tape on him and trying to see where can I spot a weakness. It’s hard to see. I’m not gonna tell you what I did see, but it’s very hard to see a weakness in that guy’s game.

“But there always is because I’m known for pushing people to a certain limit and I like that. Because when they think they’re going to push me to a limit and they realize I’m still going, even if I’m tired and my jaw’s dislocated or like the one time my orbital bone got crushed, I’m still in there and I’m still fighting until you knock me out or keep me down for at least three seconds. I think that’s what surprises people.”

Eddie Kingston: I’m Going To Push It

Eddie Kingston continued by stating that he’s going to keep “pushing it” when he faces Andrade El Idolo. He also noted that he will have to make things up in order to get mad at Andrade ahead of the bout.

“I think that’s what Andrade has to worry about it is I’m gonna push it. Whether I see a weakness or not, I’m gonna keep pushing it,” Eddie Kingston said. “And also, I gotta make things up in my head to be mad at Andrade because I can’t fight people who I respect.

“I have before, you know what I mean, but I like to fight people when I make things up in my head and make it personal for myself. I already got that in my head. He’s never done anything to me wrong or to anybody that I know of, but I’ll just make things up in my head so I can get ready.”
