CM Punk And Cody Rhodes Share Special Moment With A Fan At WWE Live Event

CM Punk and Cody Rhodes got emotional as they shared a special moment with the crowd in Nottingham.

During a WWE Live Event last night, CM Punk teamed up with Cody Rhodes in the main event of the show. The two former AEW stars battled against Gunther and Solo Sikoa, in a dream team-up for the UK fans.

The faces won the match when CM Punk pinned Solo after a GTS/Cross Rhodes combination. It was an emotional moment for Punk, who wiped away tears as he listened to the crowd sing along during Cody Rhodes’ entrance.

Things got even more emotional once the match was over. The pair picked two children from the crowd to join them in the ring, bringing their signs with one. One small boy had a sign that read “I’m Cody’s Stunt Double”, which earned him a ride on the WWE Champions’ shoulders.

CM Punk brought a girl with a sign supporting him into the ring. They posed for photographs with the pair and signed turnbuckles to send them home with, as the crowd serenaded them with songs.

CM Punk: Main-Eventing WrestleMania Has Always Been A Goal, But Goals Change

In an interview with Alex McCarthy of Inside The Ropes (via Mail Sport) ahead of WWE Elimination Chamber, CM Punk noted that main-eventing WrestleMania had always been a goal of his. However, he stated that goals changed.

“It’s really not that big of a deal. Main-eventing WrestleMania has always been a goal of mine, CM Punk said. “But goals change. It doesn’t mean I don’t want to wrestle in the main event of WrestleMania. But you know what, I’m at the stage of my career now where I’m like, okay, so this person’s gonna main event?

“Alright, well, you’re not gonna be able to follow this, so I don’t know what to tell you. I’ll go first, and I’ll shower, and I’ll eat some doughnuts, and I’ll watch whatever you call a main event, and I’ll just go, ‘Yeah, I was right. I was right. They couldn’t follow it.”

CM Punk ultimately did not walk away with the win at WWE Elimination Chamber. John Cena eliminated him to win the match and earn a title shot at WWE WrestleMania 41.
