Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch are one of WWE’s favorite real-life couples today, but before they got together, Rollins wasn’t even sure monogamy was for him. During a fun chat on The Rich Eisen Show, where Rollins filled in as guest host, the couple looked back on the funny conversations they had before they started dating, including Rollins’ brief thoughts about polygamy.
What began as a joke soon turned into an honest conversation about a confusing time in Rollins’ life. In the end, he realized he simply hadn’t met the right person yet.
Becky Lynch remembers Seth Rollins’ surprising “polygamy” comment
Talking about their friendship before they became a couple, Lynch recalled that Rollins once told her he was thinking about polygamy.
“He was a bit of a flirt. We were friends, so you know, he was telling me about how he was considering polygamy,” Lynch said with a laugh. She also admitted it didn’t exactly make a great first impression.
Even though everyone was laughing, Rollins explained that there was a real reason behind those thoughts. The Visionary said he was going through a difficult time after several relationships ended while trying to keep up with WWE’s busy travel schedule.
After one failed relationship after another, he started wondering if the problem was monogamy instead of himself.
“No. Look, it was a very strange time in my life. There were, you know, you started going through all these relationships and you’re like, ‘What? Why can’t I do the…what is wrong with me? Maybe it’s the system? I don’t know what I’m doing…You know what? I just need to…This isn’t it. This is monogamy thing. I can’t do it. I’m on the road all the time. This is chaos,'” Rollins said.
Looking back now, Rollins says he was completely wrong. He said once he and Becky started dating, those doubts disappeared almost immediately.
“And the truth is you’re just an idiot and you haven’t met the right one. That’s all it is. You’re just a moron and these people weren’t for you and that’s fine. This person is for you. And so once once we started seeing each other, it was like boom, over, done for me,” Rollins added.
That realization changed everything. Rollins and Lynch officially started dating in February 2019, got engaged later that year, welcomed their daughter Roux in December 2020, and got married in June 2021.
